When evaluating a room I always ask myself one question – are the things I see and touch truly ‘dust worthy’? Meaning, will the ongoing process of cleaning, dusting or polishing make me glad I have them or resentful that simply because it was a gift, or it’s something I had, it needs to be displayed? Once you answer this question it makes the process easier.

People give gifts to show you’re special to them – but, if you received something you no longer need or want – remember, it’s the thought that counts – It’s ok to let go of the gift and keep the fond memories. The same is true if it’s sentimental – you’ll always have the memories, give yourself permission to let go of the mementos!!

You will be amazed at how different you feel in a room when items are neatly displayed…so, get rid of the messy stacks of papers and magazines – the unsightly clutter of a kitchen counter full of appliance gadgets or a bathroom overcome with half empty jars, bottles and containers. By purging items from your home that no longer have a use or meaning you will give yourself the best gift of all – space to breath!!

Celebrate the change of season by keeping your house free of clutter – make this your habit, not just a once a year chore – your home will look more open and spacious and you’ll feel at ease in an environment of less stuff! Use attractive containers and baskets to hold scattered items in areas where things do accumulate.

Beauty is all around us – bring some of your favorite finds from nature indoors… in the spring casually arrange flowering tree branches just ready to bloom, while in the fall, cut colorful branches with autumn leaves still attached – both are striking alternatives to flowers and look wonderful in a treasured vase - accent a beautiful crystal bowl with smooth river rocks, colorful seashells, small green apples or rustic pine cones – the texture difference is so pleasing – you’ll love it! As the seasons change look for beauty and bring those elements into your home, creating a fresh atmosphere with inspired decorating.

Diana’s thoughts – HER WRITTEN WORDS…

Welcome and thank you for visiting my new website. It is my pleasure to introduce to the Temecula Valley, Fox Interiors…a design service to create warmth, harmony and beauty in every room… My husband and I decided it was time to trade the rainy, overcast skies of Seattle for the glorious sunshine of Southwest California. Our recent move allows us to be near family and spend a few more hours on the golf course. As weekend explorers we’re enjoying the diverse landscapes, beautiful coastlines and multitude of outdoor activities. It’s more than we could have anticipated and satisfies our adventurous spirit!

I look forward to bringing my decorating strengths and enthusiasm for creating beautiful environments into your home or office – designing spaces that reflect you and your lifestyle.

I believe in the importance of our home’s interior – that we draw energy from our surroundings – that balance and harmony will make a room feel comfortable and inviting – that when we create spaces that nurture, we enrich our well-being and our sense of fulfillment - and most importantly, that a beautiful home is attainable for any budget…

As the seasons change we have a tendency to feel their effects - in the fall and winter months we want to cozy in, seeking warmth and comfort from our homes environment – in the spring and summer we feel a renewed sense of energy and look forward to the longer days of sunlight. So, it’s no surprise that with the change in seasons we also feel a desire to clean and organize our homes.

Start by being willing to evaluate your rooms… Are they filled with some your favorite things – or, with items you no longer like or want? Do they offer a sense of comfort, warmth and calm – or, has clutter caused you to feel anxious, stressed and overwhelmed?
